Spooktacular Halloween Activities

Spooktacular Halloween Activities

With Halloween just around the corner, we thought we’d give you some ideas of fun yet simple activities that you can do with your little ones this spooky season!

Throw a spooktacular party!

This may seem like it involves a lot of planning, but kids parties can be very simple yet effective. Invite 4 or 5 of their friends to your home for a few hours, decorate the house with fake cobwebs and balloons, switch on some Halloween party tunes for them to dance to, and you’ve got yourself a party!

If you’d like to organise some specific activities for the party, here are a few easy and fun ideas:

Spooky jelly – make some lime jelly, and when it’s partially set, push some Halloween jelly sweets, fake eyeballs, plastic spiders, and anything else you think would be fun, into the jelly. Once set, the children will have a blast sticking their hand in the bowl in search of a treat or a trick, and it tastes great too, most of the time!

Make your own masks – there are lots of Halloween mask templates online that can be printed out, and the children can use pens, paint, stickers… anything they like, to make a spooky mask!

Cookie decorating – you could make a batch of plain cookies using Halloween cookie cutters the day before the party and buy some spooky toppers and icing colours for your children and their friends to decorate them with. They also make great snacks and party bag gifts!

Head on down to a pumpkin patch!

There’s something beautifully autumnal about wrapping up in a coat and hat and going to your local pumpkin patch. It’s great to support local businesses by getting local produce, and it’s great for children to see where the pumpkins come from. Not to mention the variety of choices they can pick from and great photo opportunities!

Trick or treat!

This is a classic, but some areas really get into the community spirit and have amazingly decorated houses. You could go just as a family or invite one of your children’s friends to join in the fun. Be sure to only approach houses that have lit pumpkins or other spooktacular decorations, as some people don’t wish to participate and can find visitors distressing.

We’d love to see some of the fun activities that your children get up to! Please feel free to submit pictures to our Halloween section on our website; https://fs6.formsite.com/treetopsclubs/khf4rbzepi/index.html
